Thank you all, the response to the program and the heartfelt comments left have so far have been truly amazing.

Keep it coming and if you have experienced the support and comfort of hospice care, we’d like that both Hospices who cared for Nikki benefit.

Hi Pete, watched the program last night through misty eyes at times.. i dont show my emotions easily but it had me at times, just want to wish you all the best in the coming years, Nikki came across as a very kind and gentle person and i bet she sure was, she was snatched away from you way to early but she still lives on in your heart and mind and her spirit blows through those sails daily.

fantastic place youve got now, espesially the view looking up at the mill from the glass partition…i dont envy your window cleaner!!

    Dear Pete

My husband and i watched the Renovation programme last night it was truly wonderful the work that has been put into restoring this beautiful building. We were both so sad when we heard of Nikki’s sad news and feel she was a truly remarkable young lady who’s strength and determination was inspiring. Can we congtratulate you on a wonderul job well done and our thoughts are with you and the family. A programme we will not forget!
We have made a small donation to the charity.

Pete, this was one of the most moving programmes i have ever watched. Nikki came across as a genuinely lovely person with a huge amount of guts and determination, a true inspiration . I am sure she would be very happy with the mill house completion, it is a truly lovely building.

    Kindest wishes
    Andrea

Hi Pete, I watched the programme last night and just wanted to let you know what an inspiring programme it was on so many levels. You and Nikki showed such strength of character both in forging ahead with the wonderful restoration project and in the face of adversity when Nikkis health deteriorated. Nikki seemed so courageous. I remember as a child hoping that the mill would one day be restored but of course I had no idea of the financial and emotional resources and vision that would take! We walked up on Boxing Day to see it in the ‘flesh’- it looks amazing. Wishing you well. Caroline Baker

A wonderful couple, Pete, good luck for the future. Nikki’s story has moved so many of us so inspirational!

So pleased to see the level of donations, I was watching the just giving account rise and rise all night, willing it along after I made our donation.

You have a beauftiful home a fitting tribute to a beautiful lady.

  8. Jan says:

As others have said, Nikki came across as a really lovely person and both of you showed a huge amount of courage. Both your families sound utterly fantastic. The building project is AMAZING. We have just finished a build of our own which was fraught with difficulties (one of which involved a visit from the bomb squad!!) – I turned to my husband during the programme, both of us a bit teary, and we acknowledged that we had things pretty good. We love our home, but yours is magical – almost alive. Sending our best wishes to you and yours.

Very moved by the Restoration Man programme. Thank you for sharing your story. Nikki was clearly a very loving and well loved person with a zest for life. Enjoy the beautiful house you both planned, dreamed about and created and allow yourself the time you need to grieve for her.

We have been pleased to leave a small donation to help with your fundraising in Nikki’s memory. With every good wish for your future Pete x

I was in bits at the end of the programme, tissues all over the place, Nikki was such a lovely lady and I really felt for Pete and the whole family, I will be texting my donation immediately, that beautiful home will always have Nikki’s spirit within it.

The legacy is another chapter in the history of the mill and of course to your beautiful wife Nikki , wishing you the very best for the future you have an amazing home .

Dear Pete, I watched the programme in tears, feeling your loss, my Husband died Jan 2011 aged 42 so I know only too well how tough your journey is, your Nikki has such strength, such a lovely girl, watching you both it was so clear to see how much love there is between you.

I am a member of a closed & secure group on Face Book, it’s called the MW’s (Merry Widows) if you ever need anyone to talk to Pete, email me and I can add you as a member.

Sending you peace and calm x

    Pete

My husband and I have just watched Restoration Man through tear filled eyes as many others. Nikki was an inspirational lady. I too lost my dad to cancer after a 10 month untreatable battle and i now find out that they passed away on exactly the same day last year. What a sad day for us all. I know you will feel close to Nikki from being in the home you dreamt of together and i hope you find comfort from this.

I will be leaving a donation to help you with your fundraising in Nikki’s memory. Best Wishes.x

Wow what can I say, have just watched your programme today with my 11 yr old son (who loves anything to do with restoration), we both had tissues at the ready and have gone though a whole box of kleenex.
You and Nikki are such an inspiration to us all, what you both achieved is amazing, your windmill and conversion is amazing, a truely beautiful building.
Nikki came across as such a warm and caring lady, her smile was beaming and you could see the love she had for you and the windmill.
This is one programme that we will never forget… all my best wishes for your future.

  15. Michael hill says:

Wow. Very hard program to watch but you did such a great job. I lost my wife to cancer in October last year and know just what you went through. Emma was only 36 and had battled for 3 years with ovarian cancer. Keep up the good work. It’s nice to know other people go though the same as you. All the time you spend at the mill will remind you of all the good times and will help you through the pain.

  16. David Little says:

We caught up with the Restoration Man programme yesterday and as like so many others we where moved to tears.

Thank you for sharing your story with us Pete. Nikki was clearly a loving and well loved lady with a passion for life.

The house is fantastic and we hope in time you can find the time and space to enjoy it – what a lasting memory of Nikki.

It was our pleasure to make a small donation to help with your fundraising in Nikki’s memory.

Pete – You are in the prayers of many and wishing you all the best for the future x

  17. Carole says:

  18. Viv P says:

Just wanted to say, thinking of you, remember the good times and enjoy the amazing home you now have. The transformation of the mill is brilliant. Life chucks all these things at us but it is how we cope with them and turn them into positives that keep us going.

  19. Nikki M says:

    Pete,
Thank you for allowing us to have such a glimpse of your journey over the past few years on Restoration Man, with the restoration and construction your amazing house whilst going through such a tough and sad time.
You have shown such determination yet sensitivity in the project combined with your strong love for Nikki and clear intention to keep her involved – it was really lovely that she was able to see the windmill being re-roofed for the first time.
You used your sadness and loss as an impetus to turn your house into a tribute to Nikki, and what a beautiful and stunning tribute it is!
Sending you and your family prayers and best wishes for future,
    Nikki

  20. Dear Pete, we don’t know each other, but last week’s programme, Restoration Man, was the most touching and emotional programme I have ever seen. I cried my eyes out and I’m not ashamed to say that. How you ever found the strength to continue, I will never know. Lesser people would have given in.

The fact you carried on is a testament to the woman you loved and lost in such tragic circumstances.

George Clarke was amazing and the fact he shed tears and gave you hugs was immensly touching. I wish you all the very best for the future… Laura Mcfarlane.
